18 Jan A Double Blessing for the Holidays
It was such a joy getting to know the Evans Family as they called us their “home away from home” over the holidays! Their son Jack was released from the NICU on Christmas Eve. They spent the holiday together here as a family, and went home when Baby Scarlett was released just in time to ring in the New Year!
“My family and I stayed at the Ronald McDonald House in Amarillo for two weeks while our twins were in the NICU. My husband and I walked in bleary-eyed and scared. We received such a warm welcome it was like arriving at an old friend’s home. They fed us a hot, home-made meal, and showed us a beautiful, comfortable, and warm suite. They told us they were so that we could be with our children!
One of the twins was released from the hospital before the other. RMH gave us a bassinet and continued to predict and take care of our needs so we could balance having one baby in our arms and one in the NICU gaining strength.
Our two-year-old visited us many times at RMH. He loved it so much. There were so many toys and other kids to play with he hardly wanted to leave. They showered our toddler with toys and candy and fun.
This is a warm and loving place to come to after a hard day. We sure couldn’t come all the way from Kress and be there for our babies. The staff and volunteers and donors should be proud of what they’ve built. We will be forever grateful to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Amarillo.”
