Keeping Spirits Alive

“My husband and I were expecting our first baby when we suddenly went into preterm labor at 35 weeks. Despite attempts to stop the delivery, our beautiful daughter, Malena Anastasia Diaz, was born at 3:15am on December 5 at Moore County Hospital. When doctors realized she was having difficulty keeping her body temperature and oxygen levels up, she was airlifted to BSA Hospital in Amarillo.

We were terrified for our new little one and the Ronald McDonald House was an immense help in eliminating one less burden of finding a place to stay near the NICU. The close proximity made keeping up with round-the-clock feedings that much easier, while the true kindness shown by every volunteer made us feel loved and supported by a community that we didn’t know existed. While we only stayed a few days before being cleared to take our little girl home, the Ronald McDonald House kept our spirits alive and bellies full during a time when this would have been otherwise extremely challenging. We are deeply grateful for everyone that makes charities like this possible. Thank you.”
