The Panhandle Gives 2023

Greetings and warmest wishes from the Ronald McDonald House!  As we embark on this fall season of thanksgiving, we find ourselves reflecting on the many “wins” we have experienced at our House not just this year, but in the 40 years we have provided a “home away from home” to families when they have needed us most. Since first opening our doors in August of 1983, we have provided more than 75,000 nights of comfort, care, and support to families of sick and injured children traveling to receive medical treatment. This past season has been our busiest since first opening our new House. So far in 2023, we have already provided more than 1,200 nights of stays and logged more than 3,000 visits at the Family Room!

We are also thankful that we were able to cross paths with the Kemp Family from Wellington this year. The Kemps stayed with us for 45 nights earlier this year when their son Boone was in the NICU. When it came time to go home, the Kemps didn’t want to say goodbye, so instead they said “see you later!” While they are now back home 100 miles away from our House, they continue to keep in touch and have even made the trip back to attend our 40th Birthday Open House, as well as our Sunshine for Charlotte Family Fun Run. During their stay, the girls treated this place like it was their own home, and could be seen on our Facebook page on multiple occasions playing and exploring. “The girls loved being able to play in all the playrooms with all the cool toys. They especially loved the tricycles and fire truck. RMH became our home away from home. Brantley, our oldest daughter, even calls RMH her other home.”

RMHC of Amarillo is excited to be participating in The Panhandle Gives campaign again this year. In celebration of our 40th birthday, we have set a goal of raising $40,000 to cover the first 400 nights of family stays in 2024!  All gifts made through the campaign between November 20 – November 28th will be amplified with additional funds from the Amarillo Area Foundation. Also, the first $7,500 will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, thanks to gifts from Scott & Leslie Lewis and The Credle Family. To join our initiative, you can make a gift online during this time at www.rmhcofamarillo.org  All online transaction fees will be covered, thanks to the Amarillo Area Foundation!
