What We Do
Why We’re Here
Our Mission: Providing comfort, care, and support in a homelike environment to families of children receiving medical treatment.
The Ronald McDonald House of Amarillo serves children and their families by providing a temporary “home away from home” for families who must travel to Amarillo for medical treatment for their children, and by supporting programs that directly benefit children and their families.
The Ronald McDonald House of Amarillo is the only organization that provides temporary housing for families whose children are receiving treatment for serious illnesses at Amarillo hospitals. In an effort to lessen the burden, keep the family intact, and enhance the quality of life for families, the RMHA provides services in a caring, home-like atmosphere.
Each guest family has a private bedroom and bathroom, and use of a centralized kitchen, dining room/den, living room, laundry room and play nooks. The majority of families who call us their “Home Away from Home” are away from work and home for extended periods of time, caring for kids as the medical bills pile up. The last thing they should be worried about is how they will contribute financially toward their stay with us. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, all families are able to stay at our House at no cost.
A small staff is responsible for day-to-day operations of the House 365 days of the year. Individual small refrigerators, food cabinets, and food staples are provided.

A staff member or security guard will be present on-site at all times to welcome guests inside the building. Interior and exterior monitors are in use at all times to monitor all activities on our premises to ensure our House is a safe place for families at all hours of the day. Each family will be provided a separate key for their own individual room during their stay. The following are prohibited on House property: pets, firearms, smoking, alcohol, & illegal drugs.
